Gmail
Index your mail read-only and search it alongside your other sources.

Gmail is one of the connectors you can use today. Your mail is indexed for semantic search and can ground Ask answers with citations back to the message.
Connecting
In the web app, open Connections, click Gmail, and complete the Google OAuth flow. Remly requests read-only access. It does not request scopes to send, modify, or delete mail, and it cannot act on your mailbox.
What gets indexed
Message content is extracted and indexed so it is searchable by meaning rather than only by keyword, and can be cited in Ask answers.
The precise field-level coverage – subjects, message bodies, attachments, labels, and which of these surface as search filters – is not documented here yet. It will be filled in against the shipped implementation rather than estimated.
Sync
Hourly (default), every six hours, daily at a time you choose, or manual only. Syncs are incremental after the first pass.
Credentials
Tokens are stored encrypted server-side and refreshed before they expire. If a refresh fails – for example because you revoked Remly's access in Google – the connector flips to an error state with a Reconnect action and sync pauses.
Permissions
Remly indexes with your access and nothing more. Mail you cannot see is not indexed for you.
Privacy
Email is the most sensitive source most people connect. Indexed mail is searchable, can be quoted in Ask answers with citations, and can be searched and opened by any MCP client you authorise, because there is no per-source limit on MCP access. There is no way today to index Gmail while hiding it from MCP.
If that is not acceptable, do not connect Gmail, or disconnect it before authorising an MCP client.
When something goes wrong
| Symptom | What to do |
|---|---|
| Card shows Reconnect | Google returned invalid_grant. Reconnect from the Connections page. |
| Recent mail is missing | Check the last sync time and run Sync now. Indexed content follows the sync schedule. |
| First sync is slow | Expected on large mailboxes. Remly backs off against Google's rate limits and continues. |
Disconnecting
Connections → Gmail → Disconnect revokes the token with Google and immediately and permanently deletes this connector's sources, documents, text chunks, embeddings, and permissions. Your account and every other connector are unaffected, and nothing in your mailbox is touched. You can also revoke access at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
This is not the same as deleting your account, which follows a different path with a 30-day recovery window.
Plan requirement
Gmail is a cloud connector and requires the Full tier. See Plans and billing.
